YOUR PERSONAL POWER MESSAGE:
22. I have permission
We are taught growing up to play by the rules. We must raise our hands in class to ask or answer a question. We must ask permission to use the restroom. We must ask our parents’ permission to go hang out with our friends. We grow up conditioned to always ask for permission. Some of us grow up playing by the rules well into adulthood and continue to wait or expect someone to give us permission to do things that are now up to us.
Some people are natural rebels and don’t play by the rules, while others struggle breaking them. If it doesn’t hurt anyone, give yourself permission to explore the possibilities of taking action. Give yourself approval. Practice makes perfect, the more we practice this the better we will get. Explore something new, do something for yourself you may have been feeling guilty or holding back from doing.
-What do you not give yourself permission to do and why?
-How can you give yourself permission to do it?
-Why do you feel you need permission to do this?
-What’s been holding you back?
